Mele Murals Spring 2026 Program
March 16th – 20th
Aloha Mele Murals ʻOhana,
Applications are now open! We are accepting applications for our Mele Murals Spring Program for in-person classes. This Art and Hawaiian Culture program is available for students in 3rd-5th grade. This program is designed to engage keiki in a culture-focused arts curriculum perpetuating Hawaiian culture.
In our Spring 2026 program, keiki will explore the story and significance of the ʻōhiʻa lehua, one of Hawaiʻi’s most beloved and important native trees. Through kilo (observation), art, storytelling, and hands-on activities, students will learn how the ʻōhiʻa supports the forest, provides shelter for native birds and insects, and plays a vital role in protecting our watersheds. We will also share the moʻolelo of ʻŌhiʻa and Lehua, discovering how this tree teaches us about love, resilience, and our responsibility to care for the land. Lastly, we will touch on the threats the ʻōhiʻa faces and raise awareness of ways we can support its survival. By the end of the week, keiki will gain a deeper appreciation for native plants and their connection to Hawaiian culture and the ʻāina.
More information can be found in the individual application links that pertains to meals, transportation, cost, and so forth.
