For our friends and ohana in California, we are excited to announce the first showing of the Mele Murals documentary film at the CAAMfest (Center for Asian American Media) film festival this month!

CAAMFest 2016, formerly the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, is the world’s largest showcase for new Asian American and Asian film, food and music programs, presenting over 100 works in San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland every year. We are honored to have award winning director Tad Nakamura and ‘Ōiwi TV produce this great film.
The Mele Murals film opens on Friday, March 18th at the Oakland Museum. Tickets are At Rush. A second show will be on Saturday, March 19th at the New Peoples Cinema in San Francisco and advance tickets are available on the CAAMfest site! For our Hawaii supporters, stay tuned for updates when the Mele Murals documentary will be shown later this year!
Also in March, our Mele Murals program (the public art movement that perpetuates mo‘olelo and traditional mele) will be back in Hilo for another youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and community-building project in time for Merrie Monarch.
